The World’s First Anti-Conference
Finance doesn’t need another conference. So we built something else: a room designed for participants, not audiences.
Words by Chris Argent

Most finance events are built for audiences. You sit down, the lights dim, and someone talks at you for forty minutes. The useful conversation happens later, by the coffee, if it happens at all.
GENCFO Live flips that. It’s built for participants. Every person in the room is there to contribute, not to watch.
Why finance doesn’t need another conference
Ask any finance leader where they learned the most at their last event. It’s rarely the keynote. It’s the ten minutes with a peer who has already solved the problem sitting on their desk.
So we asked a simple question. What if that was the whole day? No endless slide decks. No anonymous exhibition halls. No sitting quietly at the back. Just useful ideas, honest conversations and people worth meeting.
What makes it an anti-conference
Debates, not decks. The Great Debates put the questions finance is actually wrestling with on the table, from whether AI is really changing the function to why so many change programmes stall. The room is part of the argument.
Voices you don’t usually hear. Rising finance professionals from Gen Z tell senior leaders what the future of work needs from them. Raw, honest and uncomfortable in the best way.
Time for the right conversations. The day is designed so you meet people operating at your level, facing the same pressures and decisions.
A plan for Monday. We close by turning ideas into commitments. You leave knowing what you’ll do differently, not just what you heard.
Built by the community, not by vendors
GENCFO Live grew out of years of community conversations, from GENCFO Talks to GENCFO Meet. The topics come from the problems members raise. Our partners are there to contribute to the finance conversation, not interrupt it.
Who belongs in the room
CFOs, Finance Directors, Heads of Finance, Financial Controllers, and senior FP&A and finance transformation leaders. In-house finance, at a level where the decisions are yours.
Places are by invitation. That’s how we keep the room right: curated for quality of conversation, not maximum volume.
